To celebrate the publication of the One Hand Clapping exhibition catalogue, the Guggenheim will present on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, an evening of readings by a roster of international poets including Tan Lin, Feliz Lucia Molina, Sawako Nakayasu, Lynn Xu, and catalogue contributor Nicholas Wong. Each poet will present new works addressing themes explored in the exhibition and accompanying catalogue, following a short conversation with catalogue designer Chris Wu and editor Andrew Maerkle. This event is guest curated by visual artist and poet Jen Bervin in collaboration with exhibition curator Xiaoyu Weng.

Jen Bervin’s poetic, multidisciplinary, conceptually driven work results from intensive research and collaboration with artists and specialists ranging from material scientists to literary scholars. Bervin’s work has been exhibited internationally and receives support from the Asian Cultural Council, Creative Capital, and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. Silk Poems (2017) is her tenth book.
Sawako Nakayasu is an artist working with language, performance, and translation—separately and in various combinations. Her books and translations include The Ants (2014), Texture Notes (2010), and Mouth: Eats Color—Sagawa Chika Translations, Anti-translations, & Originals (a 2011 multilingual work of both original and translated poetry). She teaches at Brown University.
Nicholas Wong is the author of Crevasse (2015), the winner of Lambda Literary Award in Gay Poetry. Also a recent recipient of Australian Book Review’s Peter Porter Poetry Prize, he teaches at the Education University of Hong Kong.
Feliz Lucia Molina is the author of
Undercastle (2013), a coauthor of
The Wes Letters (2014),
Roulette (forthcoming), and chapbook
Crystal Marys 2016). Her writing has been published by

Lynn Xu was born in Shanghai. She is the author of Debts & Lessons (2013), a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and June (2006), a chapbook. With her family, she divides her time between Marfa, Texas, and Chicago, where she teaches at the University of Chicago.
Tan Lin is a writer, artist, and critic who has authored over 13 books. Most recently, his works were the subject of a solo exhibition at Treize, Paris. His video work has been shown at numerous venues, including the Yale University Art Gallery, MoMA PS1, and Artists Space. He teaches creative writing at New Jersey City University.
