sonnet to yield laughter

look ma I can smile, ha
there’s gold in my teeth
& ain’t none of them wrapped in foil
the grill get hot tryin’ stand next to me
I’m star shine, a gold line, a gold sign, a gold tree
every letter in my name a gold simile

periodic table stay tryin’ jack my swag
the only orphaned parts of me must be the fire I nabbed
look me in the “I” and lie your soul ain’t lighter
ten times brighter, mustard splattered
what colors grief so messily to leave laughter out the line
greatest riddle I ever told was tryin’ hide my shine

ha, there was a time I wanted to die ha
ha ha ha, & here I am alive alive
