let ruin end here
let him find honey
where there was once a slaughter
let him enter the lion’s cage
& find a field of lilacs
let this be the healing
& if not let it be
unfortunately, or blessed, it could have been
hours, or years, but it was hours
we disappeared into, touch i shouldn’t
savor, not this day, not while missing you,
not this deep in love, but a year ago,
or was it days, we said i do
which under it laid dozens more commitments,
I am sick of writing this poem
but bring the boy. his new name

until we forget what we are mourning
& isn’t that what being black is about?
not the joy of it, but the feeling
