With the clarity of a stranger watching strangeness unfold around them, Brenda Coultas and Anna Moschovakis investigate the details of lived experience, complex relationships inside and outside the intimate, and scales of time in polyrhythmic structures of simultaneity and asynchronicity.
In the mid-90s, Brenda Coultas moved to New York City to work on the staff of the Poetry Project. Her poetry can be found in Bomb and Brooklyn Rail and the anthology Readings in Contemporary Poetry published by the DIA Art Foundation Press. Her latest The Writing of an Hour, an ars poetica, was published by Wesleyan University Press this spring.
Anna Moschovakis works with and between poetry and prose as a writer, editor, translator, publisher, typesetter, and teacher. Recent books include the novels Participation, Eleanor, or, The Rejection of the Progress of Love and They and We Will Get Into Trouble for This. A long essay-poem in process, Preliminary Notes on Risk, was recently excerpted in a chaplet from Belladonna*. Her most recent translation is of David Diop’s At Night All Blood Is Black (Frère d'âme), which received the 2021 International Booker Prize; current projects include Mihret Kebede’s #evolutionarypoems, a collaborative translation forthcoming from Circumference Books. She was raised mostly in California and lives mostly in New York.

To keep our community safe, The Poetry Project implements the following at all live events: limiting the number of attendees; requiring proof of vaccination be shown at the door upon arrival; and requiring and providing face masks, as well as hand sanitizer stations. Before each event, we will also be conducting rapid tests for all performers, introducers, and hosts. Attendees are required to register in advance, and contact information is collected at the point of registration in the event that we need to support any public health efforts around contact tracing. We are committed to the safety of our performers, audience, and event staff, and will be fully prepared to update any of these plans and protocols as circumstances continue to evolve.
