L. Lamar Wilson
L. Lamar Wilson is an Affrilachian writer of multiethnic descent. He holds an MFA from Virginia Tech and a PhD from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
Wilson is the author of Sacrilegion (Carolina Wren Press, 2013), which was a finalist for the Thom Gunn Award. He is also the coauthor, with Darrel Alejandro Holnes, Saeed Jones, Rickey Laurentiis, and Phillip B. Williams, of Prime: Poetry & Conversation (Sibling Rivalry Press LLC, 2014). In 2019, he was the associate producer of the PBS series, POV Shorts, The Changing Same, winner of the Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Best Documentary Award and a special jury prize at the New Orleans Film Festival in 2018.
Recipient of fellowships from Cave Canem, Civitella Ranieri, and Ragdale Foundation, Wilson teaches at Florida State University and in the Mississippi University for Women’s low-residency MFA program. He lives in Marianna, Florida, on the unceded land of the Apalachicola, Chatot, and Choctaw.
