Ostap Kin

Ostap Kin is an author and literary scholar. He is the editor of Babyn Yar: Ukrainian Poets Respond (Harvard University Press, 2023), co-translated with John Hennessy, and New York Elegies: Ukrainian Poems on the City (Academic Studies Press, 2019), winner of the Best Translation Prize from the now defunct American Association for Ukrainian Studies. Also with Hennessy, Kin translated Set Change (New York Review Books, 2024) by Yuri Andrukhovych and A New Orthography (Lost Horse Press, 2020) by Serhiy Zhadan, winner of Derek Walcott Prize for Poetry and a finalist for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation. With Vitaly Chernetsky, Kin also translated Andrukhovych’s collection Songs for a Dead Rooster (Lost Horse Press, 2018). 

Kin’s poetry has appeared in The New York Review of Books, Times Literary Supplement, Los Angeles Review of Books, Poetry magazine, World Literature Today, and elsewhere.

He is currently pursuing a PhD in Slavic languages and literatures at Stanford University.
