Luís de Camões

Luís Vaz de Camões was a Portuguese poet from the sixteenth century, widely considered to be Portugal’s greatest poet. He was the author of many poems, including Os Lusíadas, the national epic of Portugal. He died on June 10, 1580, celebrated today in Portugal as the Day of Portugal, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities.
