Khushal Khan Khattak

Khushal Khan Khatak was a Pashtun warrior-poet and tribal chief of the Mughal Empire, who revolted against the Mughals after being expelled from his chiefdom and imprisoned. Through his poetry, he promoted the welfare and unity of all Pashtun people. He is considered one of the major figures of Pashto literature and is the national poet of Afghanistan. He died February 19, 1689.
