Esther Popel

Esther Popel Shaw, born on July 16, 1896, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was a poet and critic from the Harlem Renaissance. She is the author of Thoughtless Thinks by a Thinkless Thaughter, a volume of poetry that she self-published in 1915 while she was still in high school, as well as A Forest Pool, a collection privately printed in 1934. Her writing also appeared frequently in periodicals such as Opportunity, The Crisis, and The Journal of Negro Education. She died on January 28, 1958.
