Elise Paschen

Elise Paschen earned her BA from Harvard University and her MPhil and DPhil (PhD) from Oxford University.

Paschen is the author of six poetry collections, including Blood Wolf Moon (Red Hen Press, 2025) and Tallchief (Magic City Books Press, 2023). Among her awards are the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Prize.

Paschen served as executive director of the Poetry Society of America from 1988 until 2001 and cofounded the nationwide Poetry in Motion program. An enrolled member of the Osage Nation, she teaches in the MFA writing program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and lives in Chicago.
