Edgar Silex

Edgar Silex is a Tecuexe and Nicarao/Nican Nahua poet. He holds an MFA in poetry from the University of Maryland.

Silex is the author of Borrowing Directions from the Dark (Poetry Northwest Editions, 2026); Acts of Love (Northwestern University Press, 2004); and Through All the Displacements (Northwestern University Press, 1995).

Silex honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Maryland State Arts Council Artist Grant, and a National Endowment for the Humanities Seminar Fellowship. A board member of Indigenous Nations Poets (In-Na-Po), he lives in Baltimore.
