Dear Linda,
Hello! My name is Annie and I go to high school in Salt Lake City. When my amazing Language Arts teacher announced that we would be writing to poets for poetry month I was thrilled. Poetry is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. So we watched all of the poets read their beautiful, thought-provoking poems, but yours was the one that really stood out to me.
“Prodigal” really resonated with me in a way that was really quite special. I want to thank you for writing about such a hard topic in such a beautiful way. Sometimes as a teenage girl going through high school, I feel the pressure of needing to be happy all the time, and when I’m not I do feel some shame. So thank you for bringing this topic into the light, and letting people know that we do need to talk about it.
I really do enjoy your poetry style, and I look forward to reading more of your pieces. Thank you for taking your time to read this!
Sincerely,
Annie
