Dear Linda Gregerson,
I liked your poem a lot because it is important to remember big events from the past, like the fire in Chicago. It relates a lot to when the horse got afraid of the mouse and it kicked an oil lamp and that started the fire. I can see the horses running.
I can see that you used a lot of imagery. Like I can see the Kentucky Derby winner in 1928 also the washtubs full of French champagne.
I really liked the figurative language you used because it made my teacher really happy that we can identify it. I am really happy you wrote this poem because you also tell us when you were young remembering the champagne.
Sincerely,
Christian
