Writers in the Schools (WITS) is a group of writers who work in year-long programs in over 350 classrooms in Houston, Texas. They participate in national initiatives such as mentoring other writers-in-schools programs, serving as a model for multidisciplinary arts educators, and designing curricula for use in schools. Additionally, they lead in-services and writing workshops for teachers to change the way students experience reading and writing.
