let him find honey
where there was once a slaughter
let him enter the lion’s cage
& find a field of lilacs
let this be the healing
& if not let it be
unfortunately, or blessed, it could have been
hours, or years, but it was hours
we disappeared into, touch i shouldn’t
savor, not this day, not while missing you,
not this deep in love, but a year ago,
or was it days, we said i do
which under it laid dozens more commitments,
somewhere, a sun. below, boys brown
as rye play the dozens & ball, jump
in the air & stay there. boys become new
moons, gum-dark on all sides, beg bruise
-blue water to fly, at least tide, at least
spit back a father or two. i won’t get started.
