Celebrate National Poetry Month (April) with a virtual poetry reading hosted by Sycamore Public Library! Read a favorite poem, your own piece, or simply attend and listen.
We invite Teens and Adults ages 16+ to a Mature Reads Zoom poetry hour from 8:00-9:00pm CST. This hour will include up to 10 people with 5 minutes each to read and answer any questions about their poem. If you plan to read, choose the reader option at registration and we will set you up with a time slot!
Local Poet Annette Johns will be our featured reader of the hour. You can request her poetry book Mumbleweeds here.
Poetry read during this hour may contain mature themes and use mature language. (Take caution that some topics could be triggering.)
(If you're looking for the Gentle Reads hour that starts at 7:00 where only gentle themes, topics, and language can be used, and all poetry read is approved in advance, please find the link here.)
While registering, you can:
• Choose whether you're planning to read or just listen.
• Acknowledge that you are registering for the ‘Mature Reads’ hour.
• Reserve a pack of tealight candles to pick up. Use them to surround yourself with candlelight while you attend from home!
After you register, your confirmation email will contain the Zoom link in the 'Additional Notes' section. You will also receive a reminder email with this same Zoom link 2 hours before this Wax Poetic hour begins.
