Come enjoy a night of poetry with Waqas Khwaja and Robert E. Wood in the Library of the historic Candler Mansion at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.
Waqas Khwaja is a professor of English at Agnes Scott College. He has published four collections of poetry, most recently Hold Your Breath (Onslaught Press, 2017), as well as the literary travelogue Writers and Landscapes (Sang-e-Meel Publications, 1991), which describes his experiences as a participant from Pakistan in the 1988 International Writers’ Program at the University of Iowa. He has also edited several anthologies of Pakistani literature, and guest-edited a special issue on Pakistani poetry for Atlanta Review.
Robert E. Wood received a PhD at the University of Virginia and currently teaches at Georgia Tech. His poetry has appeared in Southern Humanities Review, South Carolina Review, Blue Fifth Review, and Prairie Schooner among other journals. His poetry collection, The Awkward Poses of Others (2013), was awarded Georgia Author of the Year in Poetry by the Georgia Writers Association. His latest chapbook, Alms for Oblivion, was published by Finishing Line Press in 2017.
