The lyric poem is a text of emotion, a text of thought, expressed directly from the poet to the reader. Participants will read various examples of lyric poetry to observe differences in modes and discuss methods of finding and channeling their lyric selves into writing. Participants will draft poems of their own and gain a clearer understanding of lyric poetry, in general.

Dante Micheaux is the author of Circus (Indolent Books, 2018), winner of the 2019 Four Quartets Prize from the Poetry Society of America and the T.S. Eliot Foundation, and Amorous Shepherd (Sheep Meadow Press, 2010), a collection of poems. He is the recipient of a prize in poetry from the Vera List Center for Art & Politics, the Oscar Wilde Award, and fellowships from Cave Canem Foundation and The New York Times Foundation. He lives in London.

- Morning and Noon Workshops: Link is sent on the day/evening before the class starts.
