Poetic Encounters at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Visit the museum during special extended hours for an evening steeped in poetry. Marking the first in a series of happenings and interventions designed by 2023 Guggenheim Poet-in-Residence Ama Codjoe, this free program will coincide with the launch of Codjoe’s Poetic Encounters, a zine full of prompts for engagement, curiosity, and wonder. Visitors are invited to participate in an open mic emceed by Jossalyn Collado and a drop-in poetry reading featuring Aracelis Girmay and Haydil Henriquez in the museum’s café. Explore the galleries with the zine in hand and celebrate poetry’s ability to slow us down, create pause, and give space for movement and stillness.

Free with RSVP. The exhibitions Gego: Measuring Infinity and Sarah Sze: Timelapse will be open for viewing during this program.

Presented by the Guggenheim Poet-in-Residence in association with the Academy of American Poets. Made possible by
