Pen + Brush Presents a Celebration of June Jordan

Pen + Brush's December reading celebrates the publication by Alice James Books of We're On: A June Jordan Reader, edited by Christoph Keller and Jan Heller Levi, with an introduction by Rachel Eliza Griffiths

We invite you to join us at P+B for an evening of readings in honor of the new book and of the remarkable, inimitable June Jordan herself. Readers include E. Ethelbert Miller, Cornelius Eady, Terrance Hayes, Cheryl Clarke, Mahogany L. Browne, Yusef Komunyakaa, and Elizabeth Alexander.

A Publisher's Weekly starred review calls the book "a tool for liberation," and Ada Límon says of the book, "When I’m asked if I think poetry can really do something, really matter, I think of June Jordan. When I’m asked if poetry can truly change things, change a person, I think of June Jordan. And now, when someone is on the brink of giving up on poetry because they think language has no power anymore, no guts anymore, I will give them this brilliant new June Jordan Reader and they will, no doubt, find their faith and courage again.”
