Helen Degen Cohen, a founding editor of Rhino Poetry, was a central figure in the Chicago area poetry community. When she died in 2015, she left behind an almost finished manuscript of poems obsessed with film. "The world viewed through the lens of filmmakers is the focus of Helen Degen Cohen's poetry collection My Life on Film, creating marvelous, haunting landscapes where the narrators serve as guide," says Sam Rasnake, author of Cinéma Vérité and Inside a Broken Clock. For this event, a selection of her poems will be read by friends and fellow writers including Ruth Goring, Ralph Hamilton, Susanna Lang, Faisal Mohyuddin, Pablo Otavalo, Andrea Witzke Slot and Bill Yarrow. Andrew Calhoun will offer his music. Free admission; refreshments will be served, and the book will be available for purchase. If you cannot attend, you can purchase the book directly from Glass Lyre Press at www.glasslyrepress.com or from Amazon.
