Cafe Muse and the DC-Area Literary Translators Network (DC-ALT) will present Poet-Translators Andrea Jurjević and Seth Michelson, introduced by Barbara Goldberg. Come chat with other listeners while you listen to Michael C. Davis playing the guitar before the featured readers. 

ANDREA JURJEVIĆ is the author of Small Crimes (Anhinga Press, 2017), winner of the 2015 Philip Levine Poetry Prize, and the translator, from Croatian, of Olja Savičević’s Mamasafari (Diálogos Press, 2018) and Marko Pogačar’s Dead Letter Office (The Word Works, 2020). Her award-winning work appears in The BelieverTriQuarterlyThe Missouri ReviewGulf Coast, and The Southeast Review, among others. A native of Croatia, Andrea teaches at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA.

SETH MICHELSONis the award-winning author of sixteen books of poetry, his own and translations, including Swimming Through Fire (Press 53, 2017), Eyes Like Broken Windows (Press 53, 2012), and most recently, the translation of Liliana Ancalao’sWomen of the Big Sky (The Word Works, 2020). He edited and translated the poetry anthology Dreaming America: Voices of Undocumented Youth in Maximum-Security Detention (Settlement House, 2017). He teaches at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA.

BARBARA GOLDBERGis the award-winning author of seven poetry collections, including Breaking and Entering: New and Selected Poems (The Word Works, forthcoming), The Royal Baker’s Daughter (U Wisconsin Press, 2008), winner of the Felix Pollak Poetry Prize, and Transformation: The Poetry of Translation (Poets Choice Press, 2019), winner of the Valentin Krustev Translation Award.She is Series Editor of The Word Works International Editions.
