Beats Per Revolution kicks off with The Beat of the Poets (an homage to the poetry of the Beat Generation and revolutionary artists like Gil Scott-Heron and the Lost Poets). Hosted by Martha Mooke, with Rahzel, Dr. Jamila Lyiscott, Karl "Dice Raw" Jenkins, Nancy Mercado, and emerging artists from Urban Word: Ish and Jadon Woodard. The Beat of the Poets draws on the rhythm of the words, featuring performances of contemporary and classic works, conversations, critiques and a surprise ending not to be Beat! (or will it?!)
