The Annual Tennessee Poets Day was established in 2017 and an "all-day" poetry event was organized by Poets From the Neighborhood (PFTN) to celebrate April as National Poetry Month. This is just one of PFTN's many community outreach volunteer efforts with outstanding poetry events. It is FREE and OPEN to the public of all ages. All events are recorded and aired by the auspices of the Williamson County Television on WC-TV and online at a later date.
The on-site celebration will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Central Time at the Williamson County Public Library's Main Branch at 1314 Columbia Avenue in Franklin, TN 37064.
In summary, PFTN Invites all in the community... Especially, Bring your brown bag lunch and the poetry enthusiasts in your family, aspiring poets among friends and students and enjoy a whole day of excellent poetry. Poets From the Neighborhood looks forward to seeing you for our 9th Annual TN Poetry Day celebration. The Opening Ceremony Speech and PFTN Awards Presentation will be by the County Mayor Honorable Rogers Anderson. We are proud to announce the 'Youngest Poet Award - 2025' Recipient is Jyothika Claire (Kindergarten). The full Agenda includes the Lecture on 'Poetry & Painting' by Hendersonville, TN Poet Laureate Henry L. Jones, and Workshop on "List Poems by TN POET Nina Adel, Open- mic Poetry and Authors Book-signing sessions can be found online and on the informational flyer. Sign up at the door to read a poem of your own for the Open Mic Session. Door prizes will be announced at the end of the day. We encourage children of any age to participate in our Open-mic Poetry sessions (On-site & Virtual) and Poetry submissions to PFTN to be 'Aired on WC-TV,TN' throughout the year.
Virtual Open-mic Poetry Recordings are ongoing and PFTN's Natiomal Poetry Month Featured Poetry by Internationally renowned poet, INDRAN Amirthanayagam will be on April 17th @6:00 PM(cst) via ZOOM ((Zoom ID: 724 5336 5455 Passcode: Y9mqt3).
PFTN Guidelines: All poetry reading on TN Poets Day Open Mics and virtual or in-person programs must be your original work, family-friendly, and with clean language (no profanity).
