44th Annual Writers Week: Writers Resist Reading

Entering its 44th year, UC Riverside’s Writers Week is the longest-running free literary event in California and features the most renowned authors of our day alongside those at the start of promising careers. The full week of events is open to the public and includes readings, conversations, panels, and social activities all focused on the widely varied and exciting work of our participants, many of them among UCR’s powerhouse Creative Writing faculty.

This year will be unique in that we are offering all readings for the full week virtually. This stands to expand our participation greatly beyond Southern California.

Presented in collaboration with Pen America. Writers Resist: Louder Together for Free Expression. Hosted by graduate students in the Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts MFA program, this biannual event brings together UCR undergraduates, graduate students, faculty writers, alumni, and community members to read works of resistance as part of the Writers Resist movement across the nation. This is a major literary protest and show of strength to signal that all eyes, ears and pens are trained on Washington.
