In 2024, Emily Schulten was named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. Schulten will immerse the city’s youth in poetry. She will offer children ages six through twelve a series of workshops, place the work of these young poets in public spaces, and create new spaces for continued access by installing interactive poetry-making equipment in public parks and creating a website that showcases the work of young writers.
