In 2026, Lee A. Tonouchi was named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. Lee A. Tonouchi will create a poetry anthology featuring Hawaiʻi’s post-plantation-era, Asia-Pacific immigrant communities, which will include less represented communities who immigrated from the Mariana Islands, the Marshall Islands, and Southeast Asia.
