In 2024, avery r. young was named an Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow. young will invite Chicagoans to write poems about places, people, things and/or events in Chicago using a new form of poetry called a soloem; instructions on writing a soloem will be found via a QR code. Selected Chi-Soloems will be featured on the social media pages of various city partners, in airports, on billboards, and shared through local media outlets.
