There's only one month left to submit your manuscript to our Walt Whitman Award. The winner receives $5,000, publication of his or her manuscript by the award-winning Graywolf Press, an all-expenses-paid six-week residency at the Civitella Ranieri Center in the Umbrian region of Italy, and a trip to New York City to attend the American Poets Prizes Ceremony. In addition, the Academy of American Poets distributes copies of the winning book to thousands of its members. Tracy K. Smith is this year's judge.
If that's not enough to inspire you to submit, perhaps the amazing lineup of Walt Whitman Award winners from years past will.
Submissions will be accepted through November 1, 2014.
