Building on its long-standing commitment to support K-12 teachers, the Academy of American Poets has launched an educator newsletter. This free monthly digital publication will feature poems, lesson plans, books, and other resources to help educators bring poetry into the classroom.

These educational resources, some of which are aligned with the Common Core Standards, are reviewed by Dr. Madeleine Fuchs Holzer, the Academy of American Poets' first honorary Educator in Residence

In addition to more than 5,000 poems, 1,000 biographies of poets, and 1,000 essays, educators can find additional resources for the classroom and may sign up for the newsletter at Poets.org.

About the Academy of American Poets

Now in its eightieth year, the Academy of American Poets is the largest membership-based nonprofit organization fostering an appreciation for contemporary poetry and supporting American poets. The organization produces Poets.org, the world’s largest publicly-funded website for poets and poetry; National Poetry Month; American Poets magazine; and an annual series of poetry readings and special events. In addition, since its founding in 1934, the Academy has awarded more money to poets than any other organization through its American Poets Prizes.
