Zoraida Burgos
Zoraida Burgos i Matheu was born in Tortosa (Baix Ebre), Spain, on March 10, 1933. She graduated with a degree in library science from the University of Barcelona.
Burgos has published eight books of poetry, including L’obsessió de les dunes [The Obsession of the Dunes] (Edicions El Mèdol, 1994), winner of the Pin i Soler Award; Reflexos i Blaus (Reflexes and Blues, 1993), for which she received the Guerau de Liost Poetry Prize in 1992; and D’amors, d’enyors i d’altres coses [Of Loves, Longings, and Other Things] (Sicoris, 1971), Burgos’s debut collection, which won the first Màrius Torres Poetry Prize. She has also published numerous prose works, particularly for children.
Burgos is also a graphologist and painter who has spent most of her professional life working in libraries.
