Yoko Ono
1933 –
On February 18, 1933, Yoko Ono was born in Tokyo, Japan. She attended the Gakushuin School in Tokyo and then Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville after her family moved to New York. Known as performance artist, musician, and filmmaker associated with the conceptual art and fluxus movements, she is also author of multiple collections of poetic texts, including Grapefruit (Simon & Schuster, 1971) and its sequel Acorn (Algonquin Books, 2013).
