Yahya Frederickson

Yahya Frederickson is a Muslim American poet. He earned his BA from Minnesota State University Moorhead, his MFA from the University of Montana, and his PhD from the University of North Dakota. 

Frederickson is the author of The Last Eelpouts (North Dakota State University Press, 2026), as well as numerous chapbooks. He was a Fulbright Scholar in Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, and Syria and the recipient of the Academy of American Poets’ Thomas McGrath Award. 

A professor of English at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Frederickson lives in northern Minnesota, on Dakota and Anishinaabe land.
