Wo Chan

Wo Chan, who performs as The Illustrious Pearl, was born in Macau and is a poet and drag artist. They are the author of Togetherness (Nightboat, 2022), winner of the Nightboat Poetry Prize and the 2023 Publishing Triangle Award for Trans and Gender-Variant Literature.

Wo is also the recipient of fellowships from MacDowell, the New York Foundation of the Arts, Kundiman, the Asian American Writers Workshop, Poets House, and Lambda Literary. Wo currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, where they perform with the award-winning drag/burlesque collective Switch n’ Play at various venues, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, National Sawdust, New York Live Arts, and the Architectural Digest Expo.
