William Greenway
William Greenway was born in Smyrna, Georgia, in 1947. He earned a PhD from Tulane University.
Greenway is the author of over ten collections of poetry, including The Accidental Garden (WordTech Communications, 2014); Everywhere at Once (University of Akron Press, 2008), winner of the 2009 Ohioana Poetry Book of the Year Award; and Ascending Order (University of Akron Press, 2003), winner of the 2004 Ohioana Poetry Book of the Year Award. With Elton Glaser, he coedited the anthology I Have My Own Song for It: Modern Poems of Ohio (University of Akron Press, 2002).
Greenway’s honors include the Helen and Laura Krout Memorial Ohioana Poetry Award, the Larry Levis Editors’ Prize from The Missouri Review, and a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. He taught in the English department at Youngstown State University for thirty years.
Greenway died in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on December 20, 2023.
