Tennessee Reed

Tennessee Reed is the author of six poetry collections: Calafia Burning: New and Selected Poems 1987–2019 (Dalkey Archive Press, 2020); New and Selected Poems 1982–2011 (World Parade Books, 2012); City Beautiful, Poems 1998–2006 (Ishmael Reed Publishing Company, 2006); Airborne (Raven’s Bones Press, 1996); Electric Chocolate (Raven’s Bones Press, 1990); and Circus in the Sky (I. Reed Books, 1988).

Reed has also had her work included in several anthologies published in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Italy, including American Multiculturalism in Interdisciplinary and International Contexts (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2017), edited by Sämi Ludwig, and From Totems to Hip Hop: A Multicultural Anthology of Poetry Across the Americas, 1900–2002, (Thunder’s Mouth Press, 2003), edited by Ishmael Reed. She is also the author of a novel, Adventures Among the X Challenged (Ishmael Reed Publishing, 2013). Her memoir, Spell Albuquerque: Memoir of a “Difficult” Student, was copublished by CounterPunch Press and AK Press in 2009. 

Reed is the managing editor of Konch Magazine and the treasurer on the board of directors for PEN Oakland.
