Tanaya Winder
Tanaya Winder is an author, a singer, and a motivational speaker from an intertribal lineage of Southern Ute, Pyramid Lake Paiute, and Duckwater Shoshone Nations, where she is an enrolled citizen. She was raised on the Southern Ute reservation in Colorado, and received a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from the University of New Mexico.
Winder is the author of Words Like Love (University of New Mexico Press, 2021). With Joy Harjo, she coedited Soul Talk, Song Language: Conversations with Joy Harjo (Wesleyan University Press, 2011).
Winder has received awards and fellowships from the First Peoples Fund and A Room of Her Own Foundation. The cofounder of the artist collective Dream Warriors, Winder currently serves as the director of People, Culture, and Belonging at the NDN Collective.
