Susan Kinsolving
Born in Elmhurst, Illinois, Susan Kinsolving earned a BA at the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MFA at the California Institute of the Arts.
A contemporary formalist, Kinsolving's collections of poetry include Among Flowers (Grove Press, 1993); Dailies & Rushes (1999), which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and The White Eyelash (2003).
Kinsolving won the Poetry Society of America's Lyric Poetry Award, and several of her poems have been set to music. She was also commissioned by the Glimmerglass Opera to write a libretto for the cantata Constellations in collaboration with the composer David Carlson. Another commissioned song cycle will appear at The National Opera America Center in 2012.
She has taught at the Bennington Writing Seminars, Southampton College, California Institute of the Arts, and the University of Connecticut. She is currently the poet-in-residence at The Hotchkiss School and lives in Bridgewater, Connecticut.
