Steven Alvarez
Steven Alvarez earned his BA in English and creative writing from the University of Arizona, and his MPh and PhD in English from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY).
Alvarez is the author of three books of poetry, including The Codex Mojaodicus (Fence Books, 2017), winner of the Fence Modern Poets Prize. He is also the author of the scholarly works Brokering Tareas: Mexican Immigrant Families Translanguaging Homework Literacies (State University of New York Press, 2017) and Community Literacies en Confianza: Learning from Bilingual After-School Programs (National Council of Teachers of English, 2017).
Alvarez is a professor and the assistant chair of English at St. John’s University. He lives in Queens, New York.
