Salvador de Madariaga
Salvador de Madariaga y Rojo was born in La Coruña, Spain, on July 23, 1886. He was a Spanish diplomat, writer, and historian. He became the first president of Liberal International and won the Charlemagne Prize in 1973. Over the course of his career, de Madariaga was nominated four times for a Nobel Prize in Literature and nine times for the Nobel Peace Prize. He died in Locarno, Switzerland, on December 14, 1978.
