Rose DeMaris

Rose DeMaris was born in California. She holds advanced degrees in English and Native American studies and earned an MFA in poetry from Columbia University, where she was a teaching fellow.

DeMaris’s poems, as well as her translations of poetry by the Lebanese Palestinian writer May Ziadeh, have appeared in a variety of publications, including Narrative, Tupelo Quarterly, and New England Review

A Best New Poets nominee, DeMaris is the recipient of Orison Books’ Best Spiritual Literature Award in Poetry and the 2023 Patricia Dobler Poetry Award. While at Columbia, she has taught courses in poetry, multi-genre creative writing, and novel writing. DeMaris lives in Montana.
