Paulus Silentarius

Paulus Silentiarius was a Greek poet in Constantinople. Writer of the hymn to mark the consecration of the Hagia Sophia cathedral at Constantinople in 562, some of his poems have been preserved in The Greek Anthology (W. Heinemann, 1916), a collection of poems that span the classical and Byzantine period of Greek literature. He died sometime between 575 and 580 in Constantinople.
