Nicole Tallman
Nicole Tallman is a poet, writer, and editor born and raised in Michigan. She is the author of five poetry collections, including The Velvet Room, forthcoming in April 2027, and Dolce Vita/Let There Be a Little Light (Bottlecap Press, 2025).
Tallman is the founder and host of A Very Gay Literary Happy Hour, a reading series, and the founder and former editor of The Redacted Books Series, the founder and former host of the Be Well Reading Series, and the Lunchtime Poetry & Jazz Series at Miami-Dade County’s main library. She currently volunteers as a poetry and interviews editor for South Florida Poetry Journal, as an advisory board member for SWWIM (Supporting Women Writers in Miami), and as an editor and communications advisor for JackLeg Press.
In 2026, Tallman was appointed the third poet laureate of Miami-Dade County. Prior to her appointment as poet laureate, she served as the poetry ambassador for Miami-Dade County for five years. As poetry ambassador, she created the county’s poet laureate program to celebrate poetry and promote literacy.
