Michal “MJ” Jones

Michal “MJ” Jones received their MFA in poetry from Mills College.

Jones’s debut, full-length poetry collection Hood Vacations (Black Lawrence Press, 2023) was the winner of the 2024 Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Poetry. They are also the author of the chapbook Soft Armor (Nomadic Press, 2023). Their poems have appeared in Anomaly (ANMLY), Kissing Dynamite, Muzzle Magazine, TriQuarterly Review, RHINO Poetry, and wildness. 

Jones serves as the editor-in-chief of Foglifter Press, a literary journal publishing transgender and queer writers. They founded and facilitate Litany!, a workshop for a cohort of Black queer poets.
