Michael Hettich is the author of several books of poetry, including The Halo of Bees: New & Selected Poems, 1990–2022 (Press 53, 2023), which won the 2024 Brockman–Campbell Book Award, and To Start and Orchard (Press 53, 2019).

A recipient of the 2023 Hudson Fowler Award from Slant: A Journal of Poetry and the University of Central Arkansas, Hettich is a retired professor of English and creative writing at Miami Dade College. He lives in Black Mountain, North Carolina.
