Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie
Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie was born and raised in Queens, New York. She received a BA from Clark Atlanta University in 1996 and an MFA from Mills College in 2002. She is the author of the poetry collections Strut (Agape Editions, 2018) and Karma’s Footsteps (flipped eye publishing, 2011), as well as Dear Continuum: Letters to a Poet Crafting Liberation (Grand Concourse Press, 2015). She is the recipient of a 2010 grant from the Queens Council on the Arts, and from 2013 to 2017 she served as the poetry editor of African Voices. She lives in Queens, New York.
