Maria Josep Escrivà
Maria Josep Escrivà i Vidal is a poet, fiction writer, and cultural activist. She was born in Grau de Gandia, Spain, in 1968. She earned a degree in Hispanic philology and a PhD in Catalan philology, both from the University of Valencia.
Escrivà has published seven collections of poems, including her collected works La casa sota la lluna: Antologia (1992–2022) [The House Under the Moon] (Pages editors, SL, released in 2023; Sempre és tard [It’s Always Late] (Proa, 2020), winner of the Miquel de Palol Prize; Serena barca [Serene Vessel] (Edicions del Buc, 2016), winner of the Valencia Writers’ Critics’ Award; and Remor alè [Breath of Sound] (Poesia 3 i 4), her first book, which received the Senyoriu d’Ausiàs March Prize.
Escrivà’s work has been translated into Basque, Croatian, English, French, German, and Italian.
