Kwame Alexander is a poet and educator. He is the author of more than thirty books, including the poetry collection Solo (Harper Collins, 2017). He is the editor of This Is the Honey: An Anthology of Contemporary Black Poets (Little, Brown and Company, 2024), a nominee for an NAACP Image Award.

The recipient of a Newbery Medal, the 2024 Coretta Scott King Book Award for Illustration, the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award, and the inaugural Conroy Legacy Award in 2017, among other honors, Alexander is the founding editor of Versify, an imprint of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Books for Young Readers.
