John Cavafy

John Constantine Cavafy, born in 1861, was a Greek poet and translator as well as the older brother of poet C. P. Cavafy. John Cavafy was the first to translate his younger brother’s poems into English, often revising the translations and leaving behind multiple handwritten iterations. He died in 1923.
