Jessica E. Johnson

Jessica E. Johnson studied poetry and biology at the University of Washington. A poet, essayist, educator, and literary organizer, she is the author of the book-length poem Metabolics (Acre Books, 2023) and the poetry chapbook In Absolutes We Seek Each Other (DIAGRAM/The New Michigan Press, 2014). She also published a memoir, Mettlework: A Mining Daughter on Making Home (Acre Books, 2024). 

A two-time Oregon Book Award finalist in poetry and an Oregon Literary Fellowship recipient, Johnson is the poetry editor of Northwest Review and cofounder of the Constellation Reading Series. She lives in Portland, Oregon, on Kalapuyan, Chinookan, and Coast Salish lands and teaches composition, creative writing, and environmental literature at Portland Community College.
